On
Wednesday, June 5, 2009, the National Urban Technology Center held
its annual gala dinner at Capitale in New York City. The event honored
Princeton professor and civil rights leader, Hugh B. Price. Former
Senator Tom Daschle presented Mr. Price with Urban Tech's Community
Leadership award.
Mrs. Patricia Bransford, founder and CEO of The National Urban Technology
Center hosted the event along with Barbaralee and Carl Spielvogel, Jessica
Isaacs and John Starks. The master of ceremonies was Maurice DuBois,
co-anchor of the CBS Morning Show and former Spin City star Richard Kind
ran the evening's live auction. Other attendees included;
Shon Gables, Sandy Chaplain, Mo Rocca. Proceeds from the evening will
expand Urban Tech's “Adopt a School” program.
Urban Tech provides information technology to under-served communities
in order to address the widening gap between the "information
haves" and "information have-nots." Urban Tech's primary
focus is to promote learning, academic performance, and workforce preparation
among disadvantaged young people; and to provide adults with the resources
necessary for long-term employability and economic security.
