On
Friday, April 24, 2009, young Manhattanites joined the Millennial Society
of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) at the Chelsea
Art Museum to celebrate Spring for a Cure. Over 600 individuals came
out to support this worthy cause. Joanna Steinberg and
Alissa Jacob were event co-chairs.
Guests enjoyed delicious treats from Braeburn Restaurant, Mercadito,
Popchips, Melba's, and Wine Cellar Sorbets. The full open bar
was donated by Charmer Sunbelt, V2 Vodka, Inocente, and Viridian Spirits. Entertainment
was provided by DJ's DJ Swaaan and Indian Giver.
Special guests included: Gossip Girl cast members Connor Paolo and
Yin Chang , Real Housewife of New York City Bethenny Frankel, boxer Tor
Hammer, cancer survivor Joey Smith and socialite, Christian Laliberte.
The Millennial Society of SWCRF was founded in 2005 by Joanna Steinberg
to raise exposure and awareness amongst the 25-35 year old demographic.
SWCRF is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), international organization that is
dedicated to supporting a focused research program to develop targeted
cancer cell-specific therapies with minimal toxicity, such as differentiation
therapy. This innovative targeted treatment has minimal side effects
on patients and enables them to maintain their normal life during treatment.
