On
Saturday, June 13, 2009, The Reginald F. Lewis Foundation held
its second annual luncheon at the Reginald F. Lewis Estate in East
Hampton, New York. The event honored R. Donahue Peebles and Retired
Colonel Lee A. Archer, Jr.
Mrs. Loida Lewis, the widow of Reginald F. Lewis, hosted the luncheon
along with Ms. Gabriella Morris and Ms. Lolita Valerrama Savage. The
master of ceremonies included Maurice DuBois, co-anchor of the CBS
Morning Show. Attendees included Don King and former New York Mayor
David Dinkins.
In addition to the awards ceremony, this year's event also included
a performance by the Dance Theater of Harlem. The Reginald F. Lewis
Foundation Gala is in its second year. The foundation raises funds
for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland for African American History
and Culture.
