On Wednesday, May 13, 2009, the New York City Ballet held its 2009
Spring Gala at the
David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Franci Blassberg and Joe Rice,
Lisa Maria and Philip Falcone, and Lesley Stahl and Aaron Latham were
Gala chairmen.
One of the most anticipated social events of the season, the Gala
celebrated the Company's unparalleled commitment to new choreography.
The one-time-only program featured the world
premieres of NYCB Principal Dancer Benjamin Millepied's Quasi
Una Fantasia
and Dresden SemperOper Ballet Principal Dancer Jiří Bubeníček's
Toccata. The
program culminated with George Balanchine's classic Theme and
Variations.
Following this exciting program, guests attended an elegant black-tie
Supper Ball
on the Promenade of the David H. Koch Theater.
