The
Eleventh Annual Winter Wonderland Ball at The New
York Botanical Garden was celebrated on Friday, December 4, 2009. The evening's chairmen of
the Ball hosted 350 guests at the holiday party of the season.
The chairmen
were Meredith Melling Burke, Cristina Cuomo, Nina
Garcia, Alex Kramer, Alexandra Lebenthal, Christian Leone, and Molly
Sims. The Junior chairmen were Byrdie Bell, Martin Dawson,
Claiborne Swanson Frank, Serena Nikkhah, Dalia Oberlander, Lauren Remington
Platt, and Gillian Hearst Simonds.
The founding chairmen were Sloan Barnett, Whitney
Fairchild, Pauline Joerger, and Nathalie
Kaplan.
Saks Fifth Avenue was the sponsor of this
year's Winter Wonderland Ball. Additional support has been provided by
Svedka.
The event took place in the magnificent Enid A. Haupt Conservatory
-- the Garden's landmark crystal palace -- filled with an internationally
acclaimed display of magnificent model trains winding through a sprawling
landscape of historic New York City. The evening began with cocktails
in the Palm Dome and the turn-of-the-century glasshouse, with dinner
and dancing in an adjacent beautifully designed tent. This event supports
children's education programs at the Botanical Garden, allowing children
of all ages, particularly underserved children in the Bronx, an opportunity
to learn about nature in engaging ways through workshops and hands-on
activities.
