On
September 27, 2008, the Lyric Opera of Chicago presented a dazzling
production of Manon at its 2008 Opening Night Gala Benefit
at the Civic Opera House in Chicago. French conductor Emmanuel
Villaume, conducted the performance which starred Natalie Dessay
and Jonas Kaufmann. The celebration continued at the Opera Ball at
the Hilton Chicago's Grand Ballroom.
Suzette Bulley was Opera Ball chairman. Ellen Stirling was
Opera Ball vice chairman. Alison McNally was Opening Night chairman
and Stephanie Fisher was Opening Night vice chairman.
