The
American Friends of Keshet Eilon presented a benefit gala concert in
Carnegie Hall on October 15, 2008. The festive evening began with a
cocktail reception and dinner for patrons of Keshet Eilon in the legendary
Russian Tea Room.
The performance showcased faculty and alumni of Keshet Eilon, featuring the legendary
violinist Ida Haendel, acclaimed violinist and Keshet Eilon co-founder Ani Schnarch,
and Mastercourse graduates from around the world. The performers include: Alena
Baeva (Russia), Angelia Cho (United States), Fanny Clamagirand (France), Semion
Gavrikov (Israel), Shir Levy (United States), Charlie Siem (Norway/United Kingdom),
Hannah Elizabeth Stuart (United States), and Tamsin Waley-Cohen (United States/United
Kingdom).
Established in 1990 at Kibbutz Eilon on Israel's northern border, the Keshet
Eilon Music Center and Violin Mastercourse is devoted to training and promoting
young violinists from Israel and throughout the world intent on attaining the
highest musical level. The Keshet Eilon credo is that music can serve as a bridge
between religions, peoples and nations in the quest for peace.
The Keshet Eilon faculty consists of violin masters from Israel and all parts
of the world. Its patron is violinist and conductor Shlomo Mintz, regarded as
one of the foremost musicians of our time. Its music director is Itzhak
Rashkovsky,
a distinguished professor of violin at the Royal College of Music, London. Its
managing director is Gilad Sheba, a central figure
in the development of cultural life in the Western Galilee, and winner of the
2007 Rosenblum Prize for his contribution to the arts in Israel.
