On
October 20, 2008, The Frick
Collection honored Countess
Giulia Maria Mozzoni
Crespi, founder of FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente
Italiano), the National Trust for Italy at its Autumn Dinner. Held
in the Frick mansion, the Dinner, a highlight of the New York social
season raised nearly $1.2 million. Proceeds will support the full
range of programs of The Frick Collection, including educational
and curatorial initiatives, and the Frick Art Reference Library.
Daniele Bodini, Donna
Josey Chapman, and Pilar
Crespi Robert were
the Dinner chairmen.
The evening began with cocktails in the Garden Court. At the same
time, guests were able to view the remarkable permanent collection
galleries as well as the newly opened and well-received special exhibition Andrea
Riccio: Renaissance Master of Bronze. Guests enjoyed dinner
surrounded by the masterpieces that are displayed in the West Gallery,
the Oval Room and the East Gallery. The spectacular tropical floral
centerpieces were designed by Galen Lee, the Frick's horticulturist
and special events designer.
Director Anne L. Poulet spoke about Countess Guilia Maria Mozzoni
Crespi's dedication to the cause of protection and conservation
of Italy's extraordinary heritage of art, nature, and culture
through FAI. Due to recent health concerns, Countess Crespi could
not travel, but was represented at the dinner by her son Luca Crespi
and daughter-in-law Vannozza G. Crespi.
